Base Set 2

The Pokemon card set Base Set 2 (commonly referred to as BS2) is a set of trading cards released in Japan in 2000. It was the second set in the Base Set series and contains a mix of reprints of cards from the original Base Set and brand new additions to the set. The set consists of 132 cards, including a 24-card holographic subset. It features a variety of Pokemon from the first and second generations, including Pikachu, Charizard and Blastoise. The set features some cards with updated artwork, such as Eevee and Flareon, as well as new cards including Dragonite and Kingdra.

Many fans consider the set to be one of the most balanced and well-designed sets to date, with many of the original cards being staple cards for every Pokemon player that followed. The set also introduced some new mechanics, such as energy manipulation and the first use of only four energy types instead of previous sets, which used five or more different energy types.
