Ancient Origins

The Pokemon card set Ancient Origins is one of the many collectible card sets released by The Pokemon Company International. Released in 2015, the set features cards from the Kalos region—the location of the sixth generation of Pokemon video games. The set consists of over 80 cards, including over a dozen new Pokemon from the Kalos region. Many of these Pokemon make use of the Mega Evolution mechanic introduced in the sixth generation of Pokemon games.

Legendary Pokemon Yveltal and Xerneas, featured heavily in the Kalos region games, are also featured in the set. As powerful Pokemon, Yveltal and Xerneas have special cards representing their 'reverse holo' forms. These reverse holo cards feature the Pokemon on the back of the card making them easy to spot in collections.
