POP Series 9

Pokemon POP Series 9 consists of 52 cards released in July 2007. It includes oversized cards featuring a major Pokemon character or a pair of minor characters in a given theme. The set focuses on the recently released Diamond & Pearl expansion and revisits some of the classic illustrations from previous sets. The set is focused around the concept of “POP Star” and features foil cards and set-specific images of the different Pokemon. It includes a group of rare Basic Pokémon, some Legendary and Rare Pokémon, a few Energy cards, and some Pokémon Star cards. The set is known for its many POP Star cards depicting a lesser-known Pokémon character in pop star clothing. It also features 16 “Reverse Holo” cards with holographic art variations on the standard designs. The POP Series 9 set also introduced several new Pokémon, such as Shiftry, Snorunt, and Glalie, as well as some rare versions of earlier Pokemon such as Groudon EX and Raikou EX. POP Series 9 has become a popular set among collectors because of its wide array of interesting cards and its exclusive artwork.
