The WotC Promo Pokemon Card set is an official card set from the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It was released in May 2000, and consists of 68 cards from the Base Set, Jungle Set, and Fossil Set. Each of the cards feature art from the original Pokémon video games. The set is often referred to as the "Pre Release" set, due to the fact that it served as a pre-release for the first 3 sets of Pokémon Trading Cards. The set contains 12 Rare cards, 12 Uncommon cards, and 44 Common cards. The Rare cards are all holographic and are some of the rarest and most desirable cards to collect. These Rare cards consist of Pokémon like Pikachu, Blastoise, and Charizard. The Uncommon cards consist of Trainer cards such as Potion and Super Potion, as well as Energy cards such as Fire and Grass. The Common cards include the starter Pokémon of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, as well as Pikachu, Clefairy, and Grimer. The set also includes a unique foil stamped WotC Promo card featuring the legendary Pokémon Articuno. Overall, the WotC Promo set is a valuable addition to any Pokémon Trading Card collection.
