Released in 2005, Pokemon Card set Holon Phantoms is an expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game set predominantly featuring Steel-type and Psychic-type Pokemon. The set is based on characters from the fifth generation of the Pokemon video games, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and more specifically the Hoenn region. It contains a total of 90 cards and introduces the first use of Delta Species Pokemon, which are actually hybrid versions of existing Pokemon that share traits of both parent species. Holon Phantoms also features the first use of Metal, Delta, and Prism Star Energy cards, as well as a new type of card called Delta Species Holon Mons. These cards cannot be evolved from basic Pokemon, but can only be created from Delta Species Pokemon. Additionally, this set includes several powerful Fire-type cards, such as Blaziken and Charizard, which have seen frequent use in competitive play. Overall, Holon Phantoms has become renowned for introducing several different types of cards that have become staples in the Pokemon card game since its release.
